She went to Top Shop to buy a t-shirt for her friend. She then went to WHSmith to buy some ribbon and wrapping paper. She then went home and wrapped the gift. It looked so pretty in the golden paper and red bow. Lorna had thought about going out with her mates for the evening but was too tired so she stayed at home and watched ‘Strictly come Dancing’. All students must also complete at least 1 controlled assessment in each subject worth another 25%. There are no exams. • Every assessment must be completed to gain at least a ‘pass’ • Full attendance is vital • There are ‘catch-up’ sessions every Monday lunch-time for any student who is behind How can parents help? • Revision guides and workbooks can be purchased from the science department (cheaper than in the shops!). Tips for Revising Maths Before you start revising, get all your notes sorted, and draw up a list of all the topics you need to cover. LEARN the FORMULAE you need. Plan exactly when you are going to revise, and be strict with yourself. 3. Give yourself little treats and things to look forward to. 4. Don’t just read through the textbook or your notes! Don’t just practice the topics you can do. 6. Make sure you ask for help if you get stuck. 7. Practice doing questions under exam conditions. 8. Practice using your calculator! 9. Show your working out – the more marks there are for a question, the more working out they expect to see. Use the marks as a guide to how long to spend on each question.
