USG Core Transfer
•A
course that meets a core
requirement at a USG institution
must meet a core requirement at the
receiving institution.
Overlays
•Required for all students who enter
the USG for the first time fall 2012 or
after
•US Perspectives
•Satisfied by an AREA E.1 course
completed at Armstrong
•Global Perspectives
•Satisfied by an AREA B.2 course
completed at Armstrong
•Critical Thinking
•Satisfied by an AREA E.3 course
completed at Armstrong or
elsewhere in USG*
*for future incoming transfers, starting Spring 2014
Overlays Continued
•If a student transfers into Armstrong having satisfied
overlay requirements from the sending USG school,
the overlay(s) is considered satisfied here.
•A USG course transferred into Armstrong as an
equivalent to an Armstrong course does not
automatically satisfy an overlay requirement, except
in the case of the Critical Thinking Overlay beginning
Spring 2014.
•For example, Sally transferred POLS 1150 in from
Kennesaw University. Sally has satisfied the AREA
B.2 core requirement, but she has not satisfied the
Global Perspectives Overlay. To do so, a
substitution form must be submitted and approved.
•Sally also transferred in PSYC 1101 from Kennesaw.
Her AREA E.3 requirement is met, and her Critical
Thinking overlay is met, if transferring Spring 2014 or
after. Prior to Spring 2014, a substitution form is still
required.

Curriculum Tidbits
• Repeat and Withdrawal Policies
• Biology 1103
• Math Pathways
Repeat Policy
• Any grade earned (A, B, C, D, F
or WF) prior to fall 2012 will be
forgiven in the GPA with a
subsequent attempt in the same
course.
• All grades earned fall 2012 or
after will be calculated into the
GPA.
Repeat Policy
Continued
• The most recent grade earned in
a course applies toward
progression and graduation
requirements
• A second or any subsequent
grade of W earned in a particular
course will result in an automatic
grade of WF. Grades of W
earned prior to fall 2012 do not
apply to the “W count,” nor do
grades of WH (withdraw
hardship) for any term (before or
after fall 2012).
