MP – describe varieties of expertise that educators at
all levels seek to develop in their students.
Based on the Common Core Standards there is a
necessity for all students to further develop their
mathematical reasoning skills.
Analyze math equations by breaking them into parts (grouping)
To increase the students ability to express the mathematical
process in which they are solving equations in verbal and written
form.
Justify their conclusion and communicate to others how they
reached their answer
Students can use objects, drawings, diagrams and words to
explain their answer.
Explain your Reasoning…
1. Mark has 5 blue balloons and 5 red balloons. How
many balloons are altogether?
2. I have 5 blue balloons and 6 red balloons. How many
balloons do I have in all?
3. How does knowing 5+5 = 10 help you solve problem #2?
