BCI Update – April 30, 2010 – Language Arts Standards Update Since July 2009, the adoption of Florida’s 2009 draft of the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards in Language Arts (NGSSSLA) has been in a holding pattern, awaiting the final draft of the national Common Core Standards in K-12 English Language Arts, which is expected to be completed in late May 2010. The Florida Department of Education will adopt, word-for-word, the Common Core State Standards in Language Arts; however, a review committee has been appointed to compare the CCSSLA document to Florida’s 2009 draft standards for English language arts.
