POWER OF MANTRA
 What is Mantra ?
 The Combination of Sanskrit letters is the
Mantra.
 Each letter has its own meaning and effect.
 Word is formed with letters.
 Each and every word has its effect on
human mind and body.
POWER OF
MANTRA
In order to understand
the science of Mantra, we
must know some basic
Facts.

What is a Mantra?
A mantra is composed of psychically
potent sound syllables that are capable
of influencing the human system both
physically and spiritually.
They can excite the emotions and give
suggestion to the mind. They influence
both the one who chants them and the
one hears them.
What is a Mantra?
The word mantra comes from the
Sanskrit word Mantrana, which means
advice or suggestions. According to
the Upanishads, the original abode of
the mantra was the "Parma Akesh" or
primeval ether, the eternal and
immutable substratum of the
universe.
How does a Mantra work?
A mantra is also an energy field composed
of certain frequencies that have a pattern
of their own and a vibration field that
creates
different
intonation.
These
frequencies and the sympathetic overtones
generated
by
them
influence
our
sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous,
which are spread in a fine neural network
through our internal organs in the body.
How does a Mantra work?
The sympathetic
response generates
the Nero-motor
response and
influences two
hemisphere of the
human cerebral
cortex.
Effect of mantra
Mantra practice involves the left
hemisphere of the brain and is
therefore effective in increasing
positive emotions. The intonation and
melody, which are the essential parts
of
Mantras,
remove
negative
emotions. In association with a Yantra
or a picture of a deity - the mantra
also provides the right hemisphere
with a concrete visual image of the
object of emotional attention.
POWER OF MANTRA
It is well known fact that
sound is regarded as the
basic source of energy and
motion existing in the
universe.
The existence of material
world is said to have
originated from the cosmic
impulse, the infinite bang of
Shabda.
POWER OF MANTRA
* Mantras are powerful sounds
and when chanted with devotion
produce enormous effects.
* Mantras are well-off in their
meanings and their meaning can be
meditated while chanting.
Mantras Are
Energy-Based Sounds
• Sound is the foremost content
of the creation.
• Mantras are divine sounds.
• Saying any word produces an
actual physical vibration.
• Mantras appear really powerful
when this sound effect reaches
the mind and the surroundings.
Mantras Create
Thought-Energy Waves
Mantra, when chanted
sincerely produces a state
where the organism
vibrates at the rate
completely in tune with the
energy and spiritual state,
represented by and
contained within the
mantra.
Mantra Have
Fire-Like Energy
Mantras have fire like energy
which can bring a positive and
beneficial result, or it can
produce an energy meltdown
when misused or practiced
without some guidance
Mantras Eventually Quiet the
Mind
At
a
deep
level,
subconscious mind is a
collective consciousness
of all the forms of
primitive
consciousnesses which
exist throughout the
physical
and
subtle
bodies.
POWER OF MANTRAS
 We all can easily experience the powers of hydro,
thermal, electrical and wind energies in different
forms. That Shabda or any form of sound also has
similar or greater impact – cannot be believed or
realized so clearly. Even the visible effects of music
are found to vary according to the psychology or
emotional state of the subject and are therefore
experienced in varied contexts and intensities, then one
can imagine the gigantic impact of the enormous
vibrations created by the ever more loud sound (ranging
from day-to-day speech to the traffic-noise... and to
the explosive sound of space crafts...., etc) produced
by the living beings on the earth...;
POWER OF MANTRAS
•In our daily life, we generally come across
with two type of sound-vyakta means
audible and avyakta means non audible.
*Acoustic theories of modern Physics have
explained these in terms of frequencies.
* The ultra and Supersonic forms are
avyakta. While sound of frequency range
20-20000 cps., are vyakta.
POWER OF MANTRAS
Our cosmos consists of the sound
waves of all frequency range-beyond
the grasp of our audio sensors and
even beyond the limits of our
imagination….
Many animals in this world are well
equipped to perceive such subtle
sounds in some range. Several birds
and animals are therefore able to
sense the future events.
POWER OF MANTRAS
 The sonic vibrations of each
spoken or mentally thought
syllable exist in the universe for
ever.
 This power is indeed super
normal as compared to the
capabilities of the modern
inventions like radio, television,
and radar….etc.
 Mantra vigyana is the science of
the subliminal as well as the
cosmic powers of sound.

POWER OF MANTRAS
 The specific configuration of the
syllable compiled in the mantras
makes them important in terms of
associated
sonic
effect.
The
enunciation of a vedic mantra in a
specific composition of accent, pitch,
intensity, amplitude and rhythm
results in its expansion (at a pace
faster than the laser beams) in the
endless domain of physical energy
waves and consciousness.

POWER OF MANTRAS
The
energy generated by the
decomposition-through Japa of a
mantra-of the cosmic sound (Shabda)
would be of exponential magnitude
as compared to that of atomic
energy.
sound waves
 The scientific investigations on the
existence and properties of sound
waves indicates that the effects of
sound could be as physical as those of
other forms of energy.
 Doppler Effect explains all this facts.
 The Historic breaking of a bridge due
to the superimposition of the cyclic
sound created by the orderly footsteps
of the Napoleon's Army.
Doppler Effect.
Resonance
 Falls of several huge and stout
bridges due to the synchronization
of sound of noisy winds or noise of
the surroundings- just as the falls
of the Lao Bernard Bridge in
France in 1852 and 1871. The Ohio
river’s bridge in USA in 1854 and
those of its Niagara water-fall in
1864 and 1889, the bridge over
Tacoma river in Washington, in
1940.
 During
first world war, some German
Scientists are said to have gained by the fact
that they had the knowledge to develop a
weapon that could produce waves of a
frequency higher than 10 raise to power 5
VPS. Such Waves would ruin the targeted
person in less than a second because the
resultant sonic effect would destroy the
neurons of the subjects at the rate faster
than that due to a high power direct electric
shock…
 The harmonious tune of a musical
instrument if repeated under
appropriate
synchronization
(in
terms of frequency, amplitude,
intensity, rhythm) with other
musical output (e.g. the tinkling
sound of the bells in the ankleornament of a dancer) can result
in the destruction of the stage
set for the musical performance.
Synchronization & Tinkling Sound

 Occurrence of earthquakes are also
largely attributed to similar effects,
of
periodic
resonance
of
superimposed sound waves deep
inside the earth’s surface.
 During the peak of the Cold-War
times, some Russian scientists had
conducted experiments in which they
had sent infrasonic signals to several
parts, esp. in the factory-mining
areas, of Canada.
Earthquakes
.
One such interesting phenomenon is
associated with the research of Prof. Govard
Marceillis of Vienna. He used to feel dull and
restless with nausea while working in the office
in his properly clean and airy chamber. This had
started happening every day since several
months. Mysteriously, his condition would
become normal as soon as he came out of the
particular chamber.... His body and mind were
in good health otherwise. Regular observance of
this peculiar phenomenon prompted him to
investigate the matter....
 Once, while he was sitting with the
support of a wall in his chamber, he
sensed some sort of vibrations in it. It
was found that the noise of an airconditioner (fitted several months ago)
in the adjacent room gives rise to these
vibrations.....; the frequency of these
micro-scale vibrations was found to
measure around 07 hertz, which was
generating infrasonic waves in the
chamber of the Professor.
 The Science of Mantra is based on
the realization of the “original
energy
currents”
subliminally
indwelling in Shabda without any
amplification or control from
outside ( e.g. by electric impulses).
 Every mantra in Vedas has been
linked
with
a
devata
that
symbolizes an eternal energy field
of
specific
flow
of
cosmic
consciousness.
 Most importantly, the latent power
of Shabda stimulates the subtle
nuclei of consciousness inside to
divine powers, the holy quotes or
the preaching of great saints, create
corresponding positive effects on
our mind and sentiments. Sacred
thoughts and deeds are directly
linked with such boons.
 Loud sounds at the peak of the very
high snow-mountains can make
the surrounding snow melt and
thus
result
in
a
landslide!
Similarly, the power (of Shabda)
indwelling in the words of a prayer
– emerging from the deep
sentiments can even penetrate the
‘skies’
of
the
sublime
consciousness…
Science of Mantras
 The science of mantras is founded
on the science of the ‘conscious
currents’ of the Shabda inherent
in the musical sound generated by
a conscious being. The meaning of
the
mantras
has
negligible
importance as compared to the
specific
configuration
of
syllables/phonemes in them.
 The Gayatri Mantra is regarded as
supreme of all the Vaidika Mantras. In
terms of linguistic meaning, it is a
universal prayer of arousal and
illumination of righteous intellect in
all. Many other divine prayers written
in different languages might also
imply similar meanings, but it is the
unique sonic pattern that gives a
unique importance to this mantra.
 The subtle sonic pattern of this
mantra is supposed to generate
specific vibrations in the gross as
well as the mental and causal
bodies of the sadhaka and in his
surroundings. These vibrations
empowered by the spiritual force
of the sadhaka’s purified inner.
Vaidika Mantras
 The Gayatri Mantra is regarded to be
the origin (mother) of all the vaidika
mantras hence of the Vedas too.
This is why it is also referred as a
mahamantra
and
revered
as
Vedamata. The majestic power of
this eternal mantra is expanding
perpetually, as the sadhana of this
mantra
has
been
constantly
practiced by millions of spiritual
experts since the Vedic Age.
Mantra
 Whenever a mantra is chanted
in a specific rhythmic manner,
its associated sonic waves
expand in a specific pattern
and after traversing across the
layers of energy-particles in the
surrounding space reach and
penetrate the corresponding
cosmic nuclei of divine powers.
Structure & Implications of Mantra
 Structure & Implications of
Mantra
Swami Ramtirtha had once stated
that—”One may become a God but one
can never see or show thee……”
The same is true of the subtle
elements, they can be experienced or
felt-in but can’t be seen or shown in
the laboratory. Flow of radio waves
through the ether is well known no
instrument has been able to measure
or demonstrate the ‘appearance’ or
‘existence’ of ether.
Basic forms of energies
 The physical world consists of five
basic forms of energies, they areSOUND,
LIGHT,
HEAT,
ELECTRICITY & MAGNETISM. They
are convertible in each other.
 Hence, they all could be regarded as
different manifestations of a unique
perpetual energy.

The Secret of the Power of
Mantra
Each mantra has a
presiding deity. For
example the Gayatri
mantra is dedicated
to Surya Narayan and
the Maha Mrityunjaya
Mantra to Lord Shiva.
Pioneering work of Dr. Emoto
 Mr Emoto has been visually
documenting these molecular changes
in water by means of his photographic
techniques. He freezes droplets of
water and then examines them under a
dark field microscope that has
photographic capabilities . His work
clearly demonstrates the diversity of
the molecular structure of water and
the effect of the environment upon the
structure of the water.

Gayatri Mantra
* The vibrations which are produced by
chanting of Gayatri Mantra can penetrate
the energy spheres at the subtle and cosmic
levels. All the alphabets of the sanskrit
language are endowed with special vibrational
powers, which set out harmonious wave
patterns when pronounced.
* It is interesting that Dr. Howard Steinguil,
an american Scientist has established that
recitation of Gayatri Mantra produces
110,000 vibrations per second.
Mantras-Subtle Dimensions of Sound
*.
The
mantras
which
are
pronounced in Yagyas are in
accordance
with
prescribed
methods and rules. It benefits the
persons concerned and makes it
possible to stimulate useful
vibrations and excitement in the
atmosphere.
Mantras
 The vibrations of mantras carry
immense energy that is
amplified by the praña and bioelectricity of the body and the
sublime currents of spiritually
refined thoughts and
sentiments of the sadhaka(s).

The power of mantras
 The
power (Shakti) of mantras is
classified into four categories – (i)
Pramañya Shakti, (ii) Phal Pradan Shakti,
(iii) Bahulikaraña Shakti and (iv) Âyata
Yamata Shakti. Maharshi Jaimini has
analyzed these aspects in the vedic
treatise entitled ‘P¿rva Mimansa’.
According to his analysis, the pramañya
Shakti deals with the words, phonetics,
pronunciations, expression of thy- call
and the configuration and order of the
mantra..
Types of Mantras
Mantras are broadly categorized into 4 distinct types.
1. Saturn Vedic Mantra which has it’s origin in Vedas
2. Pouranik Mantra which has their origins in different
Puranas
3. Beej Mantra which basically signifies the essence
or the primal sound of the ‘Akkhars”
4. Samanya Mantra
