Top government officer and
Director of Public
Prosecutions has been
accused of conspiring to
grab 4,000 acres of the
World’s 7th Wonder - The
Maasai Mara
• To accommodate the Wild life and
Maasai desire for water from Talek
River, the Kenya government
allocated 154 plots to the Maasai
residents in the
neighbourhood,through a legal
process that was approved by the
residents and stake holders such as
• Unknown to the residents a fellow Maasai
in the name of Livingstone Kunini ole
Ntutu conspired with lands officers and
curved out a 4,000 acres of the National
Reserve and claimed it was parcel 155.
• The illegal allocation was challenged by
the Narok County Council and the
Ministry of Local Government as well as
Kenya Wildlife Services
• The court cases that followed were laced
with intrigue through which witnesses
were never allowed to give evidence.
Prosecution witnesses turned defense
witnesses and the prosecution failed to
pursue its case.
• Attorney General also mysteriously
withdrew from the case and false
witnesses were allowed to swear affidavits
claiming property they never owned.
• As evidence emerged of the massive
conspiracy to rob the Maasai of 4,000
acres of their heritage, the media
houses were co-opted to protect the
grabbers. All information, including a
land mark court judgment that denied
the grabbers the legal claim to the
land, never saw the light of the day.
Late last year the Maasai living in the
neighbourhood Maasai Mara National
Reserve demonstrated against the
grabbing of 4,000 acres during with
they implicated Director of Public
Prosecutions Mr Keraiko Tobiko and
Livingstone ole Ntutu.
The Kenya government has continued to
ignore a time bomb that can serious
disrupt tourism industry and cause
serious social-ethnic tensions
