ComfortLink II / AccuLink Zoning
08/25/2011
ComfortLink II / AccuLink Zoning
• Launch date is 08/29/11
• Approved applications for initial release:
– Trane/American Standard Indoor unit with a variable speed blower
 PWM control of the indoor blower is required for the 1st release
– Wired sensors
 Wireless sensors are currently being tested and are scheduled to
release mid to late October
• Non Approved applications for initial release:
– Bypass control scheme
 Since the software to support bypass resides in the Zone Panel, a Zone
Panel change will be required

XL950 / Platinum ZV Control
• A 950 control is required for all zoning applications
– The 950 control is the central control point for all system
functionality, including zoning
• Version 2.0 software is required for zoning operation
 All 950 controls built after 9/22/11 will have version 2.0 software
 Zoning cannot be enabled with software versions 1.0 & 1.1
 Existing inventory of version 1.0 and 1.1 controls must be sold through
before version 2.0 software will be available
• Control software can be updated two ways:
– Internet upgrade on control
 Requires valid wireless connection and SD card
– Software download to SD card via Trane.com or
Americanstandardair.com

• New Features (2.0)
– Zoning capability (with Zone Panel and Wired Sensors)
 All zoning related features are documented in the Zone Panel IG
– Schlage Link compatible (non-zoning only)
 Training presentation is loaded on FSR Forum
– Improved diagnostics
• Improvements
– Photo Album screensaver is now persistent after a power cycle
– CFG.004.00 (No Humidity Sensor) is now a Normal alert and
diagnostics have been corrected
– Weather feature has been completely re-architected to improve
connectivity

ZZSENSAL0400A
Wired Indoor Temperature Sensor
• ZZSENSAL0400A is a nondisplay temperature sensor only
• ZZSENSAL0400A is the same
part that is used with the
TCONT402 thermostat
• When using a ZZSENSAL0400A
as a zone sensor, set point and
mode can be adjusted at 950
control
‹#› Zoning Webex 08/25/11
ZZSENSAL0400A
Indoor Temperature Sensor
• The sensor requires two wires
which are connected to the
corresponding slot on the Zone
Panel
• Zone 1 can be controlled by
either the onboard sensor of the
950 control or a wired sensor
• ZZSENSAL0400A does not have
humidity sensing capability

Installation Guide
•
All zoning instructions will be
included in the Zone Panel
literature
•
This includes the steps required
to setup a zoning system in the
950 control

Zone Damper
There are three options for zone dampers:
•Round
•Round Retrofit (slide in)
•Rectangular
‹#› Zoning Webex 08/25/11
Zone Damper Actuator
The position indicator provides an easy
reference point to view damper movement
The part number and power consumption
is listed on each actuator
Damper release button. Press this button
releases the gears and allow the damper to
be adjusted manually
Electrical connections. The connections
“COM, PO & PC” are the same between
the zone panel and actuator

XL950 / Platinum ZV Control
• The 950 control has advanced diagnostic capability
– All critical alerts will be displayed on the home screen and flash a
“RED” icon on the shortcut bar
 Critical Alerts disable heating/cooling operation
– All major alerts will display a “Yellow Icon” on the shortcut bar of the
950 control
 Major Alerts disable some functionality but heating/cooling operation is
possible
– Normal Alerts are logged but not displayed to the end consumer
 Normal Alerts are fault conditions that may interfere with system operation
but will clear on there own
‹#› Zoning Webex 08/25/11
Advanced Diagnostics
• Diagnostic Screen will display all alerts regardless of severity
– Current Alerts (active alerts only)
– Alert History (alerts which have been negated)
• In the Diagnostic screen all alerts will have a Problem Description
and Possible Cause listed
– Current Alerts will display the time the alert was asserted
– Alert History will display the time the alert was cleared
‹#› Zoning Webex 08/25/11
Advanced Diagnostics
• New Alert Messages
– There are certain alerts which disable zoning, but heating/cooling
operation will be maintained
– These alerts are categorized as Major since heating/cooling operation is
still possible (examples below)
 SOP.04.00 Indoor Temperature Sensor Fault
 SOP.04.50 Discharge Temperature Sensor Fault
 SOP.04.54 Four DTS trips within 1 hour
‹#› Zoning Webex 08/25/11
Advanced Diagnostics
• Disable Zoning continued…
– Heating/cooling operation will be controlled by the temperature
sensor in the largest zone (highest zone size/weight)
– All dampers will be driven to full open position
– These alerts will display a pop-up on the zones which are disabled
and also indicate which zone is controlling heating/cooling
operation
– Once the alert condition is cleared the system will automatically
revert back to zoning operation

Summary Table
• In the previous example we
showed an Err.126.00 which
defeated system operation
• Err.126.00 indicates either
equipment missing or
changed
• A Summary Table has been
added which will list all
communicating devices and
the current status of each
device to assist in
troubleshooting
‹#› Zoning Webex 08/25/11
Summary Table
• Here the Summary Table
shows three communicating
devices, two are online and
one is offline
• The offline device is what
created the Err.126.00
• Two Zone Expanders have
been created with the same
serial number because the
zone dip switch was
changed after initial power
up
‹#› Zoning Webex 08/25/11
Summary Table
• Once the dip switch is
changed to the correct
position the online/offline
status changed
‹#› Zoning Webex 08/25/11
Summary Table
• Select the “Offline” device
and press “Remove
Selected Offline Devices”
‹#› Zoning Webex 08/25/11
Summary Table
• The “Offline” device has
now been removed
• The Err.126.00 will now be
cleared and system
operation will resume
• The Summary Screen
allows for “Offline” devices
to be removed without using
the “Restore Factory
Settings” which clears all
settings
