wants with daisy again. Now that he has daisy he doesn’t need the green
light anymore. The green in this chapter symbolizes happiness.

The color symbolizes Gatsby and hope. The green light isn't the only
symbolic color in Great Gatsby. Fitzgerald uses color like a preschooler let
loose with tempera paints, only a little more meaningfully.
THROUGH THE ENTIRE NOVEL SO FAR, WHAT IS
THE ONE CENTRAL MEANING OF THE COLOR?
Throughout the entire novel the central meaning of the color green is
hope. This is proven by the three quotes that link the color green to
Gatsby and Daisy, Gatsby’s hope for a better tomorrow, and to “James
Gatz”. All these of these quotes express the hope that Gatsby acquired for
the future. Therefore, the color green symbolizes hope which inevitably
makes the theme hope, maybe even a negative look on hope and how it
can end badly no matter what you hope for.

The character that is most symbolically represented by the color green is
Gatsby. The green symbolized the hope of Gatsby being reunited with
Daisy. We know his obsession with Daisy but we also know Daisy’s
obsession with social stability and wealth. Therefore, it is obvious that the
color green is a symbol of hope because in the book they are reunited.
