2013-14 POINTS OF EMPHASIS & NEW RULES
NEW RULES
• Most of the new rules will also be in place across all competitions using
Official Basketball Rules from 2014-15 onwards (exceptions: jump ball,
30” time-outs, 90” intervals of play)
NO-CHARGE SEMI-CIRCLE
The no-charge semi-circle application will revert to the application
in Euroleague Basketball competitions in the 2008-09 season

Fouls
The Technical Foul penalty will be reduced to one (1) free throw awarded to
the opponents, with the opponents taking a throw-in at the centre line
extended, opposite the scorer’s table
A player shall be disqualified when he is charged with two (2) technical fouls
TIME-OUTS
Time-outs - each team will have:

In the last 2 minutes of the fourth period each team will have a maximum
of 1x 60” + 1x 30” time-outs
INTERVALS OF PLAY
• Between 1st and 2nd period and 3rd and 4th
there will be 90’’ intervals of play.

JUMP BALL
• The Jump Ball will be reinstated replacing Alternating Possession. The
first period and all extra periods will begin with a jump ball.
• The team which gains first possession of the game will take a throw-in at
the centre line extended, opposite the scorer’s table to begin the fourth
period
• The other team will take a throw-in at the centre line extended at the
beginning of the second and third periods
JUMP BALL
• The first period and all extra periods will begin with jump ball
at the center circle.
• In all the other cases jump ball will be performed in free
throw circles , depending on the fact whether the ball was in
the frontcourt or in the backcourt.

JUMP BALL
• If the jumpers are not determined by Official
Basketball Rules (held ball, two players
throwing the ball outside boundary lines
simultaneously etc.) coaches of two teams will
designate the players for jump ball.

JUMP BALL
• If jump ball is in the backcourt of the team which
gained control of the ball or that team did not
have previous possession of the ball the 24second clock shall be reset to 24’’.
• If jump ball is in the frontcourt of the team which
gained control of the ball and that team had
possession of the ball before jump ball the 24second clock shall be reset to 14’’ (if before jump
ball there was less than 14’’ left). If 14’’ or more
is left the clock shall not be reset, it shall continue
from the time it was stopped.
