• Hand made in 700AD by
monks on Lindisfarne
Island
Where’s Lindisfarne?
• It’s a small
island off the
coast of
Northumberland
in north east
England and
it’s called
Holy Island

What does the island look like?

• It’s written on
vellum with quill
pens
• It contains the four
gospels from the
New Testament of
the Christian Bible.
It’s beautifully decorated
• Each gospel has
lots of decorated
lettering
What are Carpet Pages?
• Each of the
four gospels is
introduced by
a fully
decorated page
that looks a bit
like a carpet

use

It’s full of patterns
Your Task
• Use the patterns as a starting point for your
choreography
• Use the music we are sending you
• Make sure that all of the patterns are included in the
dance
• Put it all together so that the page ‘lives’
• Be ready to show us the work in progress
