Quiet when she is deported in the same train car as Elie.

She began strangely seeing images of fire outside the of the car.
“Jews, listen to me! I can see a fire! There are huge flames! It is a furnace!” (p.23)

She became an outcast ( like Moshe the Beadle ).

A bright kid among the prisoners.
“Juliek, a bespectacled pole with a cynical smile on his pale face” (p.47)

JULIEK’S ‘BEFORE’ CHARACTERIZATION
Had a decent job in the prison.
“Juliek explained to me: “we work in a warehouse for electrical equipment, not far from here. The work isn’t in the least difficult or dangerous”(pg.47)

Elie was separated but eventually found Juliek once again.
Who was still a enthusiastic musician.
