Research
 Elasticity
 Friction
 Air
 Resistance
Hypothesis
 If I drop a ball from a high point then, it well bounce
higher than if dropped from a lower height.
Independent and Dependent
Variable
 Independent Variable
 The height
 The type of ball
 Dependent Variable
 Speed at witch the ball falls
Controlled Variable (3)
 The Type of ball
 Friction
 Rate of fall
Materials and Procedures
 Materials
 Foam balls
 Timer (phone)
 Ladder
 Pen and Paper
 Procedure
 Position a ladder at the site of the experiment.
 Drop a ball three times (one at a time) from a height of 5ft,
record rate of fall.
 Drop a ball three times (one at a time) from a height of 8ft,
record rate of fall.

Conclusion
It turn out that my hypothesis was indeed correct, that
the higher the ball fell the more time it took for it to
land.
Experiment 2
Does wind affect the time it takes a ball to land on the
ground?
Hypothesis
If my research is correct, I think that wind will affect the
landing time of a ball.
Independent and dependent
variable
 Independent variable
 Speed of wind (high, low, medium)
 The ball
 Dependent variable
 Speed the ball falls
Controlled variables
 Air friction
 Rate of fall
 Type of ball
Materials and procedures
 Materials
 Ball
 fan
 Procedures
 Place a fan in the mid point of the ball’s falling distance.
 Drop ball from 6 ft on low(fan speeds), then medium , and
high. Repeat 3 times.
 Record time of fall and average.

conclusion
It turns out that the speed of the fan did affect the time
it took the ball to hit the ground.
Experiment 3
Does height affect the elasticity of a ball?
Hypothesis
I think it does have a effect on the ball elasticity in the
height the ball is dropped
Independent and dependent
variable
 Independent variable
 Foam ball
 The height the ball is dropped from
 Dependent variable
 The height the ball jumps back up in inches
Controlled variable
 Type of ball
 Elasticity
 The height the ball is dropped
Materials and procedures
 Materials
 Foam ball
 Measuring tape
 Procedures
 One person stands in place
 Ball is dropped from 3, 4 and 5 feet high
 Record bounce distance of the ball in inches

Conclusion
The elasticity of the ball was affect to the height the ball
was dropped.
