The river Chu starts at the point at which two other rivers meet (the river
Joon Aryk and the river Kochkor). At this point the river is at 1,802m
above sea level.
This river has no outflow. The
water of this great river sinks in
to the sand and mud of the
Moyynqum Desert.
The Chu river is one of the longest
rivers in Kyrgyzstan.
The Iranian Sughds originally lived around the
river Chu. They spoke the ancient language of
Soghdian, an East Iranian language.
The river Chu represents the boarder
between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan
