God’s Kingdom is a Home for Believers • “There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him. • And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee. • And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren? • And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! • For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.” Mark 3: 31-35 How Do We Do God’s Will? • “Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? • Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.” John 6:28-29 Prodigal Son • “And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! • I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, • And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants. • And he arose, and came to his father.” Luke 15:17-21 Isaac and Rebekah’s Home • Jacob: “My father peradventure will feel me, and I shall seem to him as a deceiver; and I shall bring a curse upon me, and not a blessing. • And his mother said unto him, Upon me be thy curse, my son: only obey my voice, and go fetch me them… And Rebekah … put them upon Jacob her younger son.” • “And he [Jacob] came near, and kissed him [Isaac]: and he [Isaac] smelled the smell of his [Jacob’s] raiment, and blessed him [Jacob].” Timothy’s Home • 2 Tim. 1:5 “When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.” • Paul remembers Timothy’s sincere faith and the teaching that he had received from his mother and grandmother.
