Neighbourhood Life
Neighbourhood Life is……
 a different way to the management of core and non-core leisure activities
that empowers local communities to take ownership of their local leisure facilities
guided by our vision to expand our leisure offering, providing local
residents with a community hub, where they can participate in a wide range of
meaningful activities which improve their physical, mental and developmental
health
an approach that seeks to make a real difference to local residents by
maximising participation in activities that improve individual health and
fitness, increase social capital, thereby impacting on mental health,
employment and crime reduction outcomes
managed through our Neighbourhood Life Board and driven by a Strategic
Framework linked to local priorities
 piloting in Bolton, Eastbourne, Harborough and Wythenshawe

Working in Partnership
We will work with:
 Local Authorities, communities and community leaders to identify, fund and
promote activities that drive community participation
 National Governing Bodies (NGBs)
 Clinical Commissioning Groups, Public Health and Health and Wellbeing
Boards to support and promote programmes that deliver improved health
outcomes and overall improve life expectancy
 The voluntary sector to provide capacity building support and engage
volunteers
 The police to develop programmes of activity that contribute to a reduction in
local crime, including bids for funding
Measuring Social Outcomes
 Sport England impressed by Neighbourhood Life Concept and
committed funding to pilot across our 4 locations to measure outcomes
 Our pilot project seeks to engage 1000 inactive people and support
them into a minimum of 30 minutes moderate physical activity per week
 6 month membership (£10 per month)
 3 month support from Coach trained in Motivational Interviewing
 Baseline total physical activity measured using the International
Physical Activity Questionnaire at week 1 & 12
 Frequency of activity captured on Legend System
 Impact on Health and Wellbeing measured by Health Manager
