Personal Motor Vehicle Storage:
For single members or members on Imposed
Restrictions
• Married/common law members who own two
vehicles.
• Only one vehicle is eligible to be stored
• Must be a commercial facility, actual and
reasonable expense.
• On the return, up to $200.00 for
roadworthiness test

Custodial Expenses
• For single members or married service couples
where both are away for service reasons
• Can not claim if in Single Quarters
• $275/mth (with receipts) can be paid to ensure the

Effects (HG&E)
• There is no entitlement to store HG&E with the
exception of members on high rate separation
expense and single members force out of quarters.

expense

Tax Relief under Subsection 220
(3.1) of the Fairness Legislation
• Filing extension applies to CF members and their
spouses where the CF member is deployed at any
time during Jan, Feb, Mar or Apr of the current tax
year, or in transit to or from operations.
• HMCS CHARLOTTETOWN will be requesting to
have approval for an Income Tax Filing Extension for
CHARLOTETOWN members and their spouses.
• NOTE 1: There is no extension for RRSP
contributions
• Note 2: Members are to file ASAP upon return to
Canada.

Hardship Allowance
• The intent of the Hardship Allowance is to
compensate for the living conditions existing at a
specific post.
• When Hardship Allowance benefits commence Sea
Duty Allowance must be ceased as members are not
entitled to receive both at the same time.

compensate members for repeated deployments
• The rate varies according to the members length of
service on operations and is calculated as a
percentage of the authorized Hardship Allowance
level
• Points are accumulated for services at a rate of one
point per calendar month

Mission Leave
• Mission leave is designed to allow members the
opportunity to quit the mission area and relieve stress
in a non-threatening location, usually back in Canada
• Mission Leave is 2.5 days per month
• To be used in conjunction with your Home Leave
Travel Assistance
• Unused mission leave will be automatically converted
to special leave in lieu of mission leave at the end of
deployment

Predetermined Payment (PDP)
• Allow the member or the Pay Office to establish a
preset banking amount (similar to Split allotment)
• Allow flexibility to change the amount for mid and end
month pay
• When entitlement fluctuate throughout the
deployment, this will ensure your normal pay and
allowance arrive in your bank account on time

Home Leave Travel Assistance
• Home Leave Travel Assistance is a financial benefit to provide
transportation assistance to permit members to reunite with their
next of kin
• Home Leave Travel Assistance provides three options:
• Member returns to home (Home Leave Travel Assistance)
• Next of kin travels to member at port of call (Reverse Home Leave
Travel Assistance )
• Members and next of kin travel to a third location (Third location Home
Leave Travel Assistance )
• If the CO authorizes a Third Location Home Leave Travel
Assistance , then the benefit is an allowance, not a
reimbursement
