Paradise
Module 1 – Circle 4
Is the Hell Fire only for the people who do
not believe in Allah swt & His Messengers
(pbut)?
Abu Hurayrah (ra) reported that the Messenger of Allah
pbuh said, "Avoid the seven sins that will condemn the one
who commits them to Hell". They asked, "What are they, O
Messenger of Allah (saw)?" He said, "Associating anything
in worship with Allah (swt); magic and witchcraft; killing
anyone whose killing Allah (swt) has forbidden, except in
the course of justice; consuming ribaa; consuming the
wealth of the orphan; running away from the battlefield; and
slandering the reputation of innocent, chaste believing
women". (Bukhari & Muslim)
Module 1 – Circle 4
How large is the Hell Fire?
Depth: Abu Hurairah (ra) states, "Once while we were sitting in the
company of Rasulullah pbuh we heard the sound of a dropping object.
Then Rasulullah pbuh asked: "Do you know what sound it is ?" "Allah
and His Rasul know best ". We replied. "This is a stone which was
dropped by Allah from the mouth of Jahannam, and it has landed on the
bottom after 70 years of continuous falling ; this was the sound of the
falling of the same stone." [Muslim]
Walls: The Prophet pbuh said, "Hell Fire is made up of four thick walls,
each wall a distance of forty years."(Tirmidhi)
Gates: "And verily, Jahannam is the promised place for them all!
Entering into it are seven gates; for each of these gates are assigned
(special) class (of sinners) ." [Qur'an 15:43-44]

What are the conditions inside the
Hell Fire?
Rasulullah pbuh narrated : "Jahannam was heated for a
thousand years and its fire turned red; It was then heated
for another thousand years and it became white; it was
again heated for another thousand years and it turned
black. At present, Jahannam is pitch black and dark."
[Tirmidhi]
Abu Huraira narrated: Allah's Apostle said, "Your (ordinary)
fire is one of 70 parts of the (Hell) Fire." Someone asked,
"O Allah's Apostle This (ordinary) fire would have been
sufficient (to torture the unbelievers)," Allah's Apostle said,
"The (Hell) Fire has 69 parts more than the ordinary
(worldly) fire, each part is as hot as this (worldly) fire."
(Bukhari 4.487)
Module 1 – Circle 4
What is the fuel of the Hell Fire?
"O Muslims ! Save yourselves and
your families from the Fire whose
fuel is men and stones." [Qur'an
66:6]
Module 1 – Circle 4
Will the punishment of the Hell Fire
be the same for everybody?
Rasulullaah pbuh said: "Among the men of
Jahannam, the least punishment given will be that
both his shoes and laces will be made of fire, which
will make his head boil like a cauldron such, that he
will think that he is receiving the most severe
punishment, although his punishment is the least."
[Bukhari, Muslim]
"The Hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the
Fire." [Qur'aan 4:145]
Module 1 – Circle 4
How will people be punished in the
Hell Fire?
'Over their heads will be poured boiling water. With
it will be melted what is within their bodies. As well
as (their) skins." [Qur'aan 22: 19-20]
"If they implore relief they will be granted water like
melted brass, but this will scale their faces, how
dreadful the drink! How uncomfortable a couch to
recline on!" [Qur'aan 18: 29]
Module 1 – Circle 4
Will people die in the Hell Fire?
"Those who reject Our Signs. We shall soon hurl into the
Fire:. As often as their skins are roasted through, We shall
replace these for fresh skins, that they may taste the
Chastisement:, for Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise." [Qur'an
4:56] Quranic Miracle
Module 1 – Circle 4
Is it unfair that people are punished
like this?
The Prophet, peace be upon him, explained: "On the day of
judgement a disbeliever will be asked: 'Suppose you had as
much gold as to fill the earth, would you offer it to ransom
yourself from the hell-fire?' He will reply: 'Yes!' Then it will
be said to him: 'You were asked for something easier than
that, that you should join none in worship with Allah, and
submit yourself to Him, but you refused'" (Bukhari).
Module 1 – Circle 4
Is the Hell Fire a small price to pay
for committing sins on the Earth?
Anas ibn Maalik said that: The Messenger of Allah (peace
and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The most affluent
of the people in this world, of those who will go to Hell, will
be brought on the Day of Resurrection and dipped once in
the Fire. Then it will be said: O son of Adam, did you ever
see anything good? Did you ever have any pleasure? He
will say: No, by Allah, O Lord. Then the most destitute of the
people in this world, of those who will enter Paradise, will
be brought and dipped once in Paradise, and it will be said
to him: O son of Adam, did you ever see anything bad? Did
you ever experience any hardship? He will say: No, by
Allah, O Lord. I never saw anything bad and I never
experienced any hardship.” (Muslim 2807)
Module 1 – Circle 4
How are believers sins purified?
•Patience during trials and illnesses
•Pain during dying (Sakarat al mowt)
•Punishment of the grave
•Punishment during the Day of Judgement
•Punishment in the Hell Fire
Module 1 – Circle 4
How will believers settle wrongs
between themselves?
The Messenger pbuh said, "The believers will be
saved from the Fire then they will be kept on a
bridge between Paradise and Hell. They will settle
their accounts with one another for any wrongs that
existed between them in this world, until they are
purified and cleansed, and will be permitted to
enter Paradise. By the One in Whose hand is the
soul of Muhammad, each of them will know his
dwelling in Paradise better than he knew his
dwelling in this world" (Bukhari)
Module 1 – Circle 4
Who will be the first to enter
Paradise?
Anas (ra) reported that the Messenger pbuh
said: "I will come to the gates of paradise and ask
for it to be opened. The gatekeeper will ask, "Who
are you?" I will say, "Muhammad". The gatekeeper
will say, "I was ordered not to open the gate for
anyone else before you"". (Muslim)
Module 1 – Circle 4
Who will be the next to enter
Paradise?
Abu Hurayrah (ra) reported that the Prophet pbuh
said, "Jibreel came to me, and showed me the gate of
Paradise through which my ummah will enter". Abu Bakr
said, "O Messenger of Allah (saw), would that I had been
with you to see it!". The Messenger of Allah (saw) "But you,
O Abu Bakr, will be the first of my ummah to enter
Paradise".
Abu Hurayrah (ra) reported that the Prophet pbuh said: "We
are the last, but we will be the first on the Day of
Resurrection. We will be the first of mankind to enter
Paradise".
Module 1 – Circle 4
Will the Poor enter Paradise before
the Rich?
'Abdullaah ibn 'Amr reported that the Messenger of Allah
(saw) said, "Do you know who will be the first of my ummah
to enter Paradise?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know
best". He said, "The poor of the Muhajireen. They will come
to the gate of Paradise on the Day of Resurrection and ask
for it to be opened. The gatekeepers will say to them, "Have
you been brought to account?" They will say, "What do we
need to be brought to account for? We were carrying our
swords and fighting for the sake of Allah (swt) until we
died." Then the gates will be opened for them and they will
stay there for forty years before anyone else enters". (AlHaakim)
Module 1 – Circle 4
Will the sinful believers ever enter
Paradise?
Abu Hurayrah (ra) reported a lengthy Hadith on how the Prophet
pbuh described the Hereafter, and in which he said: "...When
Allah swt has finished judging mankind, and wants to bring
whomever He wills out of Hell by His Mercy, He will order angels
to bring forth those upon who He wishes to bestow His mercy of
the people who never associated anything in worship with Allah
swt, and who said, "Laa ilaaha illaah Allah". The angels will
recognise them in Hell, and will know them by the mark of sujood
on their foreheads. The Fire will consume all of a man except the
mark of sujood which Allah swt has forbidden the Fire to
consume. They will be brought forth, having been burned in the
Fire, the water of life will be poured on then, and they will grow
like seeds left by silt after a flood". (Muslim)
