Feeding of 5000 (John 6:1-15)
A) Geographical and Temporal Intro: Sea of Galilee (Sea of Tiberias);
large crowd followed Jesus, since they saw the SIGNS he was doing;
he goes up a mountain; Jewish feast of Passover was near (vv. 1-4)
B) Jesus asks Philip: “Where can we buy enough food for them to eat?”
Philip replies: “Two hundred days wages would not be enough” (vv. 5-7)
C) Andrew, one of his disciples, suggests: “Here’s a boy with five barley loaves

“Earth, with her thousand voices, praises God”

…and so it was from the beginning, the Voice of God
rang out, infusing all of creation with abundant life.
At other times, this “still small voice” calms troubled spirits, enabling all
to reach for new horizons. A familiar voice stirring with the harmonies of
care and reassurance awakened Lazarus and returned him to life,
energy and renewed vitality.
Ours is a God whose voice resounds in the depth of our being calling us
away from old habits, inviting us to embrace more wholesome ones. And
today ... the voice reverberates and we echo God’s voice infusing life –
giving hope, refreshing spirits.

“Amen, amen, I say to you, the hour is coming, and
is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of
the Son of God, and those who hear will live.” (5:25)

“My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they

We are used to saying “yes” – “of course he is”!

Aren’t believers “children/sons/daughters of God”?





In contrast, we are “adopted” as children/heirs (Paul)
