Paul Revere’s
Early Life

Paul Revere was born
December of 1734
He was the third oldest
out of twelve children.
As a teenager, he
studied silversmith work
and took after his
father’s shop.

Paul Revere was
famous for being a
silversmith and
craftsman.
At age 19 he opened up
his own shop in Boston,
Massachusetts. Not only
was he well-known for his
crafts work, he was also a
skilled engraver. He was
one of the only
silversmiths in Boston who
could finish silver work
and engrave.

Paul Revere’s
Midnight Ride
On the night of April 18-19
1775, hours before the
battles of Lexington and
Concord he performed his
“Midnight Ride”. Paul
Revere and William Dawes
were instructed by Dr.
Joseph Warren to ride
from Boston to Lexington
to warn John Hancock and
Samuel Adams about the
movements of the British
Army.

Paul’s Later Life
By 1788 he had opened a
foundry which supplied
bolts, spikes, and nails for
North End ship yards. Paul
Revere’s later businesses
were importing goods from
England and running a
small hardware store until •
1789. He also opened the
very first copper rolling mill
in North America in 1801.
