Spivey Lessons Objective of Spivey Sentences • Today’s lesson will help us to become better writers. Learning how to make descriptive, sensory word choices, using varied sentence types, and choosing more mature paragraph structures, will make us write like real authors. • Using the Noun + part sentence allows us to expand our sentence to include more description. This lets our readers form a picture in their minds of what we are writing about. The male seahorse glides side to side, up and down, his body (noun + Part) turning every color of the rainbow wordlessly impressing the woman he loves with his elegant dance (surround the noun). Expanding, opening, and flashing his pouch (three action); he shows her the safe, comfortable cradle her children will grow in. Up and down they go in a waltz their tails hook and noses touch (noun + part). Romance is not flowers and candy, but swimming side by side using color and motion prompting the female, his companion (re-namer) to give her precious eggs to him. He will hold her tiny babies until they are ready to see the world on their own. Let’s Write!
