It assists them to demystify the practices and requirements they will confront in their first year. It provides students with a range of specific and identifiable capacities (skills and attitudes) that are essential for undergraduate study. The thematic content explores the relationships between the learner, the university's requirements, and the expectations students have about university study. It explores different disciplinary approaches to knowledge in order to develop an appreciation of the importance and relationships between context and knowledge. Students will identify, compare, contrast and discuss different disciplinary approaches to knowledge and be familiar with the relationships between knowledge and context.
