Taurida National V.I.Vernadsky University is the single
classical university in Crimea and one of the largest
centers of science and education in the south of Ukraine.

It was founded in 1918.

Today it’s a state school of higher education, which
enjoys the 4-th accreditation level.

It consists of 17 faculties, which
provide training of students in 45
specialities.

The University also has the Faculty of Advanced
Studies, which provides second higher education
in 12 specialities, and the Faculty for Foreign
Students.

The training of specialists of the highest
qualification is provided through the postgraduate
training.

More than 250 postgraduate students study now in
more than 50 specialities.

About 40-45 Candidate
and 8-10 Doctor’s Degrees
are defended each year.
The Faculty of Philosophy

The first set of students on the speciality “Philosophy”
was carried out in 1993, when on the base of history
faculty the Department of Philosophy was created.

In 2000 the Departments of Сulturology and Political
science were opened.

On the basis of these three departments
in 2003 the Faculty of Philosophy
was created.

Study)

In 1990 The Department of Theory and History of
Culture was created.

Since 1994 – the Department of Ukrainian and
Foreign Culture.

Since 2002 – The Department of Culturology.

The Department of Culturology
is headed by Prof. D. Berestovskaya,
PhD in Philosophy since 1991,
professor since 1992,
the Honoured Culture Worker
of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea,
the leader of the humanitarian direction
of the Ukrainian NAS Crimean scientific center.

At the Department of Culture Study 17 people
work, among them 2 professors and 7 candidates
of Culturology, Philosophy and History Science.

major fields:




Theory of culture;
History of culture;
Ideological, historical and institutional
features of religion;
Ethnocultural.

The Department is the organizer of the international
scientific conference «The culture of the Black Sea
Region peoples from ancient times to our days».

Since 1997 together with the Crimean scientific center of
Ukrainian NAS the Department of Culturology publishes
magazine «The Culture of the Black Sea Region». It has
international status.
