Southeastern Family Violence Center

SFVC is a 29-year old private non-profit
organization that depends on support from
our community. We offer crisis intervention,
shelter and advocacy services for adult
(men & women) as well as child victims of
intimate partner violence and/or family
violence.

To increase safety in families, empower
victims of domestic violence and
displaced homemakers in rural Robeson
County

SFVC was founded in 1981 as Robeson County
Committee on Domestic Violence, INC. It was
started by five concerned citizens and was ran
mostly by volunteers. The first office was
located on 15th street in Lumberton. They
moved into what is now the shelter and had
the office and shelter at the same location. In
the mid-90’s they bought an office and
renovated the shelter in 2003. The location now
has a paid staff of 10 and runs on a budget of
450,000 and growing. SFVC has been serving
Robeson county for 32 years and helped over
15,000 families and individuals.
