Bryn Mawr College welcomes prospective students from the CCP
Honors Program! We hope that the following information will help
you make good decisions as you work towards your associate’s
degree. If you have questions, please contact the Community
College Transfer Coordinator, Christina Dubb, at 610-526-5147 /

General information regarding transfer credit
Students must earn a total of 32 units (equivalent to 128 CCP
credits) to complete the A.B. at Bryn Mawr. In evaluating the
number of transfer credits students will be awarded towards their
Bryn Mawr degrees, Bryn Mawr will normally add up all
transferrable credits from CCP and divide by 4.
Courses that will not transfer
Bryn Mawr College will not accept on-line courses.
•
Many other courses offered at CCP, including most pre-professional
courses and some courses that students take regularly to complete
CCP’s distribution requirements (such as MATH 118 and CS 103),
will not transfer to Bryn Mawr. Students are therefore urged to
consult the Bryn Mawr C3 Coordinator and follow the guidelines
below to optimize the number of transfer credits they earn.

Meeting Bryn Mawr’s General Graduation Requirements

Approaches: Students are strongly encouraged to satisfy all four
prior to matriculating at Bryn Mawr:
•
One course in Critical Interpretation (CI): Satisfied by the core
honors curriculum.
•
One course in Inquiry Into the Past (IP): Satisfied by the core
honors curriculum.
•
One course in Cross-Cultural (CC): can be satisfied by HUM 101
(honors) or by HUM 170, HUM 180, PHIL/REL 151, SOC 115 or SOC
233.
•
One course in Scientific Investigation (SI): Non-science majors may
satisfy this requirement with BIOL 106, CHEM 110, CHEM 105, or
PHYS 105. Students interested in majoring in the sciences should
follow the advice of their prospective major department.
•
One Quantitative / Math Course (QM): Satisfied by GIS 101 or any
math course at or above 163.
•
Foreign Language (FL): Students are encouraged to begin work
towards this requirement while at CCP
1) Students who complete a minimum of 9 credits of consecutive
foreign language courses at CCP satisfy the entire Bryn Mawr FL
requirement.
2) Students who complete a minimum of 6 credits of consecutive
foreign language courses at CCP take a placement exam upon
matriculation and complete one additional course at the
appropriate level at Bryn Mawr or Haverford College to satisfy the
FL requirement.
3) Students who complete fewer than 6 credits of foreign language
courses at CCP will complete the entire foreign language
requirement at Bryn Mawr.

One course to meet the Emily Balch Seminar requirement (Esem):
The ESem requirement must be completed in the first semester at
Bryn Mawr. Students who matriculate in the fall will take an Emily
Balch Seminar. Those who matriculate in the spring will take
English 125 (Writing Workshop).

Summary of the Bryn Mawr College Major in Psychology
Students may complete a minor in neural and behavioral sciences
to complement the major.
•

Transferring Psychology Courses from MCCC and CCP
Please remember that Bryn Mawr does not transfer any courses
taken in an on-line format.
•
The psychology department will accept up to two courses towards
the major in psychology. The department will accept one 3- or 4credit transfer course toward the introductory psychology
requirement and one additional 3- or 4-credit course from the list
below towards the 200-level elective requirement, provided the
student has earned a grade of B or better in each course. The
student should meet with the chair to confirm which courses will be
transferred over. To petition the department to count a course not
included in the list below, a student may submit a syllabus and
copies of work completed in the course (e.g., exams, papers, etc.).
Because the introductory courses at MCCC and CCP do not include
experimental labs, students will need to include one laboratory
course within the 200- and 300-level electives she takes after
transferring to Bryn Mawr.
Transfer students will be expected to take PSYC 205 (Experimental
Methods and Statistics) and a 200-level elective OR two 200-level
electives in the first semester at Bryn Mawr.

psychological research.*
Three elective 300-level courses offering specialization within a
content area or integration across areas
One semester of senior seminar (Psych 399) or two semesters of
supervised research (Psych 401 or 403) to provide an intensive and
integrative experience in psychology to culminate the
undergraduate career.
