Microphones: e.g. 1 x D112, 6 x Sm57, 6 x Sm58, 2 x AKG414, plus many
more
Proffesional mixing desk, 2 sets of monitors
Sequenced Realised
Performance (20%)
• Students produce a sequence of a popular music piece
using Reason
• Piece decided by exam board
• Examples: Colourless Colour (La Roux) 2011, AMTV
(Ladytron) 2012, The Model (Kraftwerk) 2013, Gotta Get
Thru This (Daniel Beddingfield) 2014
This year:
La La La – Naughty Boy featuring Sam Smith
Multitrack recording (20%)
• Students will record a piece of their own
choice (2-4 mins).
• Recordings must have at least 8 live
tracks
• With guidance, it’s your choice
Creative Sequenced Arrangement
(20%)
• The creative sequenced arrangement will
be based on one of two given pieces
supplied by Edexcel.
• This year:
Seven Nation Army or I Want It That Way
• Styles – Reggae or House
Listening & analysing (30%)
• 1 hour 45 minute listening exam
• The style of questions will range across multiple choice,
short answer and longer prose
• Popular music styles & Music Technology production
techniques will be assessed
• 4 x 10 mark questions
• 2 x 20 mark special focus questions
• Indie Music & Soul

condenser and dynamic mics
