Frederic Remington By:DanielleTerry Frederic's Childhood He was born in Canton, New York in 1861. He attended the Yale School of Art and the Art Students League of New York. Frederic Remington He traveled widely throughout the country spending most of his time sketching the people and places. In 1886 he became an illustrator o Western themes. He sold his work to many if the major magazines. Ex. HARPER'S WEEKLY. Frederic Remington Not only was he a illustrator, he was also a fine painter. He captured all the sweeping vistas, heroic figures, and moments of danger and conflict, on his canvases. Sculpture Frederic turned his talent into sculpture. He added more detail, movement, and energy they seemed ready to leap to life. Spanish Civil war Frederic had to pause his artwork, and go to cuba as a war correspondent and illustrator. He was deeply disillusioned by the war. He didn't find the war heroic, but appalling. Frederic Remington In 1908 he made his last trip to the west. He died in 1908 at the age of 48. Frederic Remington made more than three thousand drawings and paintings, twenty-two bronze sculptures, a novel, a Broadway play, and over one hundred articles and stories.
