Litany of Commitment Leader: To move from apathy to action and keep the fire of love for God and zeal for service burning in our hearts, there are six disciplines or habits that we’re going to learn about at GEMS and add to our lives. Will you join us? We can remember them by memorizing the word PASSION. GEMS: P is for Pray Constantly. Leader: Talking and listening to God feeds the fire in our hearts because it develops a deeper relationship between God and us. Congregation: We will be people of PASSION who pray to God anytime, anywhere, and about anything. GEMS: A is for And. S is for Study God’s Word. Leader: Studying God’s Word, the Bible, feeds the fire in our hearts because we learn how God wants us to live. Congregation: We will be people of PASSION who read God’s Word every day. GEMS: S is for Serve others. Leader: Serving others feeds the fire in our hearts because we’re doing the assignment that God gave to us. We serve God when we serve others. Congregation: We will be people of PASSION who serve with all our hearts – no matter what the task. GEMS: I is for Interact with God’s People. Leader: Interacting with God’s people feeds the fire in our hearts because we’re able to encourage one another to act justly, love mercy, and to walk humbly with God. Congregation: We will be people of PASSION who will not give up meeting together, but will faithfully interact with one another to spur each other on toward love and good deeds. GEMS: O is for Open up and Talk about God. Leader: Opening up and talking about God feeds the fire in our hearts because it shows God and others how much we love Him. Congregation: We will be people of PASSION who open up and talk about God to the people in our church, workplaces, schools, and community. GEMS: N is for Notice God in the Ordinary. Leader: Noticing God in the ordinary feeds the fire in our hearts because we see God making Himself known to us and take note of all the tender ways He cares for us. Congregation: We will be people of PASSION who notice God in the ordinary by seeking Him with all our heart. All: Lord God, please grow a deeper love within us for You and a renewed eagerness to serve others. Help us to keep the commitments that we’ve made before You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
