Role of Information Professionals in Supporting Teaching
and Learning
Identify course content – identify data sets and resources for course content, supplementary
readings, and teaching preparation (e.g., readings lists, annotated bibliographies)
Develop activities, assignments, collaboration spaces - identify ways to integrate the use of
data sets and information resources to meet learning objectives based on critical thinking,
problem-solving/decision making, analysis, synthesis, critical reflection skills development
(e.g., class activities, projects, papers, field study engagements)
Create information products - package resources in custom information products to support
assignment/learning objectives (e.g., information portals, knowledge centers, research
guides, wikis, etc.)
Provide information research skill development - delivery customized class, small group,
