FEDERAL SUPERSTRUCTURE
By: Cassie Smith
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Was Created January 30,1788.
 Was first published in the Massachusetts
Centinel.

PURPOSE
To inform the public of the states that have
ratified the new constitution and the one state
(Massachusetts) that was pending on ratifying
the new constitution.
 To persuade people to support the ratification of
the new constitution.

TECHNIQUES
There are five pillars standing, each with the
abbreviation of a state on them. (Del., Penn.,
N.Jer., Geor, and Con.)
 There is a pillar that is tilted toward the right
with the abbreviation Mass. on it that is being
pushed up by a pair of hands that are coming
from the sky.

PATHOS

This political cartoon appeals to pathos because it
makes people think about how the new
constitution could help them and effect there
lives if it is ratified. (In the time period it was
created, not now)
LOGOS

This political cartoon appeals to logos because it
is logical that a building cant stand without all of
its pillars. That this new constitution couldn’t
stand without the support of all the states.
ETHOS

This political cartoon appeals to ethos because it
was published by the Massachusetts Centinel. A
very popular, trustworthy paper of the time
period.
