Overnight Jerusalem Day 2: March 20, 2014 – Thursday Jerusalem Old city Begin the day’s tour on the Mount of Olives for a breathtaking view of the entire city. Visit the Church of All Nations and the Garden of Gethsemane. Enter by foot in the Walled City. In the Jewish Quarter see the Cardo and Western Wall. Enjoy the panoramic view of the Dome of the Rock on the Temple Mount. Visit the Christian Quarter walk along the Via Dolorosa and the Stations of the cross, visit the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Visit the Expo and collect the runner’s registration kit. Overnight Jerusalem Day 3: March 21, 2014 – Friday Marathon day Overnight Jerusalem Day 4 : March 22, 2014 Saturday Qumran / Massada / Dead Sea Drive through the Judean Wilderness to the lowest point on earth -- the Dead Sea. Drive to Qumran where we visit the caves where the Essene community wrote the Dead Sea Scrolls, continue to the base of Massada, the last stronghold of the Jewish zealots against the Romans. Ascend by cable car and tour the famed archaeological site including Herod’s palace, an ancient synagogue and a bathhouse. Later we will drive to a nearby oasis and enjoy a short swim or “float” in the unique waters of the Dead Sea Overnight in Jerusalem Day 5 : March 23, 2014 Sunday Jericho / Bethlehem / Jaffa We will drive to Jericho, believed to be the oldest inhabited city in the world. Described in the Hebrew Bible as the “City of Palm Trees”. We will take a cable car to visit the Mount of temptation, where Jesus was tempted by the devil (Matt 4:8) atop the mount is the Greek Orthodox Monastery of the Temptation or "Qarantal". We will drive to Bethlehem to visit the Church of nativity and the Shepherd’s Fields. We will drive to Old Jaffa an 8000 year old port city; visit the ancient ruins and walk along the restored artists’ quarter. Overnight in Tel Aviv Day 6 : March 24, 2014 Monday Biblical Highlights of the North Depart Tel Aviv via the coastal road and the landscape of the lower Galilee to Nazareth, the town where Jesus spent his childhood. Visit the church of Annunciation and the church of St. Joseph. Continue, via Kana, to Tiberias, the lovely resort town. Drive along the Sea of Galilee to visit Capernaum and view the ruins of the ancient synagogue where Jesus taught ; Continue to Tabgha, the site of the miracle of fish and loaves located at the foot of the Golan heights; Proceed to Yardenit, the famous baptismal site where the Jordan river leaves the sea of Galilee towards the dead sea. Overnight in Tel Aviv Day 7 : March 25, 2014 – Tuesday Free Day Enjoy a day at leisure to discover the street and beaches of Tel Aviv – “the city that never sleeps” Overnight in Tel Aviv Day 8 : March 26, 2014 Departure After breakfast, free day and transfer to airport for your flight home.
