Mission Statement
• Steppenwolf Theater company is a Chicago based
International performing arts institution ensemble
collaboration and artistic risk through its work with its
permanent ensemble, guess artists, partner institutions
and the community. Steppenwolf has redefined the
landscape of acting and performance by spawning a
generation of America’s most gifted artists.

• Steppenwolf opened a new Theater complex on April
13, 1991. The company moved from Jane Adams Hole
House Center in Broadway, Chicago.
• Before 1991, the Theater was in a church basement.

Founded
• In January 1974 Steppenwolf Theater was founded by
Terry Kinney, Jeff Perry, and Gary Sinise.
