Aspiring entrepreneurs team up at simultaneous events designed to create as many start-ups as possible. • Over the course of 54 hours, newly-formed teams in locations such as Lisbon, Sao Paulo and Sofia present to judges at the Sunday evening showcase. • Last year, national winners from across the globe were put to a public vote to crown the overall Global Startup Battle winner. In 2010 this was MIMIX at YallaStartup Weekend, Lebanon who won for their pioneering web and mobile app, which builds on speech recognition and 3D modelling techniques to translate speech into sign language in real-time. One national winner from more than 20 countries will then compete during Global Entrepreneurship Week at the global finals for a chance at $100,000 in support and services. • Last year, Abeo of Denmark received first prize for their patented Super-Light Structure technology which minimizes the energy and materials necessary during building construction. One winner will receive an all-expenses paid trip to Liverpool and VIP delegate credentials to participate in Global Entrepreneurship Congress in March, 2012, while another winner will receive a one-year mentorship from Redbox co-founder, Michael DeLazzer. • Last year, Olivier Ceberio, founder of Resolute Marine Energy, won a free networking trip to Richard Branson’s Necker Island.
