HOME CARE FOR THE ELDERLY (HCE)
Encourage the provision of care for elders in
family-type living arrangements in private
homes
 An alternative to nursing home placement
 Provides a monthly stipend for caregivers for
basic support and care of an elder individual

 To
help offset the cost of care giving, NOT to pay the
caregiver

Eligibility
 Clients
must be aged 60 or older
 At risk of nursing home placement
 Financially eligible
 Based
on income and assets
 Caregivers
must be at least 18 years of age
 Capable
of providing a family-type living arrangement
 Willing to accept responsibility for the needs of the client

COMMUNITY CARE FOR THE ELDERLY (CCE)
Passed by the Florida Legislature in 1973
 Designed to assist functionally impaired elders to
live dignified and independent lives in their own
homes
 Eligibility

Individuals must be aged 60 or older
 Functionally impaired
 Determined to be at risk of institutionalization (nursing
home placement)


Co-Pay* for services based on income

ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE INITIATIVE (ADI)
Began with the passage of state legislation in
1985
 Provide services and training to address the
needs of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease
and related memory disorders
 Research related to the cause
 Prevention
 Treatment and cure of the disease


Eligibility
 Diagnosed
or suspected of having memory loss
where mental changes appear and interfere with
the activities of daily living (ADLs)
 18 years or older
 Not just Alzheimer’s disease
 Must have a caregiver
Caregivers are eligible to receive training and
support services to assist them in caring for the
individual with memory problems
 Co-pay* for services based on income


 Household income must be below 150% of the
poverty guidelines
