information for trustees, administrators and other
fund professionals
• Found education niche with passage of the
Labor-Management Relations Act of 1947
(Taft-Hartley Act)
CEBS
• Passage of ERISA in 1974 influenced
the CEBS program.
• CEBS began in 1976
• Partnered with the Wharton School and
later with Dalhousie University
• Formalized curriculum
• First CEBS designations awarded in 1980
