On the 25th of April each year, the biggest blockbuster in the AFL season takes place between Collingwood and Essendon at the MCG in Melbourne. Over the years, both teams have scored victories, but in 2013 it was all about the Mighty Bombers!!!! At The G The annual Dreamtime match was first held in 2005 between Richmond and Essendon. These teams were chosen to play in the match because their combined jumper colours make up the Aboriginal Flag and both teams have Aboriginal players. The aim of the indigenous round is to celebrate the contribution of indigenous players in the AFL. FACT: There are currently 85 indigenous players in the AFL. The Fans!!! At the moment, the Essendon Football Club has 52,456 members. Game Day • My interest in the Bombers started when mum took me to my first AFL match in 2005. • Soon after I got a jumper, scarf, beanie and some badges. This was the start of my Essendon addiction. • I sometimes go on the train to the football when Essendon is playing here in Melbourne. • I get dressed up in my red and black and always cheer loudly in the game. • The best part is when Essendon win and I get to sing the theme song with the crowd. Thanks for watching!!!
