WHAT HAPPEN IF
CEREBELLUM IS DAMAGE
The Cerebellum is a section of your hindbrain that is
located in the back just above and behind where your
spinal cord connects with the brain. The reason Its called
the Cerebellum is that it means little brain in latin
What does cerebellum do
It plays a major role in most physical movements like
throwing or walking across the room. It coordinates your
eye movements while also learning movements that
require practice and find-tuning.
Over 200 years ago scientists started analyzing the cerebellum
on people and animals.
The cerebellum is approximately only 10% of the brain's
volume although it has 50~80 % of the total number of neurons
in the brain.
Cerebellar agenesis when people are born without a
cerebellum and although when the cerebellum gets damaged
most people without one can live like normal with only minor
affects. Others may have more serious symptoms that can
cause them to need medical care for their whole life.
WHAT HAPPEN IF CEREBELLUM IS
DAMAGED
Motor change (muscle control)
Cognitive change (think, learn, memory)
Trouble speaking, because speaking requires
accurate muscle control on tongue
Difficult to balance or walk in a straight line
Harder to do tasks such as buttoning a shirt,
picking up a fork, and writing
Slower mental process
Difficult to finish simple daily task,
planning ahead
Shaky, involuntary, rapid eye
movement (which known as
nystagmus)
Trouble judging distance
Trouble tracking a moving object
Double or blurred vision (double vision
happens because cerebellum is making
sure both eyes are pointed at the same
point, if cerebellum is damage, one eye
might start to drift into other direction)
Visual change (vision)
Humans mostly damage their cerebellum from acquired medical conditions
rather than physical trauma, with strokes and chronic alcohol toxicity
serving as the leading external sources of damage.

QUESTIONS
What's one visual change that can happen if your cerebellum is damaged?
Double Vision
Can you live without a cerebellum?
Yes, You and live without cerebellum
Location of Cerebellum
The cerebellum is located at the back and bottom of the brain
Cerebellum comes from Latin, what does it mean?
In Latin, cerebellum translates directly to "little brain."
When did scientist start researching the cerebellum
Formal scientific research into the cerebellum began in the early 19th century.
