Proposed Amendments to the Constitution of Gampaha District Chess Association (To be approved in
AGM 2020)
Following 4 amendments will be presented to the AGM of GDCA 2020, one by one as separate individual
amendments to accept or reject by the club representatives whose clubs are active and have voting
rights to AGM of GDCA 2020. Open voting system will be applied as usual.
1. Amend “the Gampaha District Schools Chess Association” to “Sri Lanka Schools Chess
Association Gampaha District Representative(s)”
Hence the GDCA EXCO meetings are open for the Gampaha District Representative(s) of Sri
Lanka Schools Chess Association, but no voting rights in any instance.
(Clarification: So far GDCA couldn’t initiate/ support/ motivate the relevant parties to establish
an association called Gampaha District Schools Chess Association. But GDCA supports SLSCA
District Representative to conduct their events. Therefore it is better GDCA accept SLSCA
Gampaha District Representative as Committee Member of GDCA but no voting rights in AGM or
EXCO meeting or any other.)
2. In any case of dissolving of GDCA without scheduling a Special or Annual General Meeting the
ownership of the assets of the Gampaha District Chess Association will move to the Chess
Federation of Sri Lanka.
3. Election Criterion for Annual General Meeting of GDCA
a. Calling applications for the posts one month prior to the AGM
b. Closing the Nominations collection by Hony. Secretary two weeks prior to the AGM
c. Publishing the nominations and club list who have voting rights, 10 days prior to the
AGM in Official Website/ social media by Hony. Secretary.
d. Open voting at the AGM by the active member clubs who have voting rights. The Club
will get approved to vote by on time settling the dues (membership fee, etc) and have
done any other financial settlements (payments settlements for franchised
tournaments, etc) prior to 2 weeks to the AGM.
