Global solar inverter market share report 2026 Joe Shangaw Research Analyst June 2026 Global solar inverter market share report 2026 Methodology Tracking methodology: Wood Mackenzie’s inverter vendor rankings are built upon careful tracking of the global landscape. Our primary data collection comes from annual vendor surveys, public filings, project databases and dozens of conversations with manufacturers; engineering, procurement and construction providers; and distributors. Where necessary, market-based estimates are made. Wood Mackenzie labels the situations in which estimates are made and provides leading vendors with the opportunity to respond to our estimates prior to publication. Reporting metrics: Wood Mackenzie ranks vendors by quantity of shipments in megawatts-alternating current (MW ac). Only shipments with revenue recognised in the reporting year are counted towards the market share. The market share breakdown includes an ‘All others’ category, which combines shipments of all vendors in that region or country that account for less than 2% market share. Changes to methodology for the 2026 edition: The residential string inverter category has been adjusted to include both hybrid and PV-only string inverters. All inverters below 25 kW per unit, regardless of phase or battery-readiness, are included in this single product to create a more relevant comparison for 2025, where hybrid inverters are often sold regardless of battery-attachment. Definitions: Utility-scale string inverter: Includes all central inverters as well as string inverters with a maximum voltage of 1500 V ac and a unit size of at least 150 kW ac Residential string inverter: Includes all string inverters below 25 kW/unit, regardless of 1-phase vs 3-phase functionality or battery-readiness. Commercial and industrial (C&I) inverter: Includes all three-phase string inverters between 25 kW and 150 kW, normally rated for 1000 V ac and suitable for large rooftops or groundmount applications. Hybrid inverter: Grid-tied single or three-phase bidirectional string inverters that can receive ac inputs from both PV solar and storage. AC-coupled storage inverters are not included in these rankings. Inverters that are physically embedded in a battery system qualify as long as they have DC-coupling capabilities. 2 Global solar inverter market share report 2026 3 Table of Contents 1.
