DAY IN A LIFE OF AN ANCIENT ATHENIAN
The earlier part of the video pertaining to the above topic conveyed to me a civil war
between the Athenians and the Spartans. Into the fourth year of the clash, it seemed the
Spartans dominated the Athenians. This marked the beginning of the Athenians to flee
away from the countryside of the Peloponnese region to a territory that was sandwiched
between the city walls and the sea. An Athenian world power possessing superior
fleets came to the needs of the fleeing warriors. Post war of Peloponnesian, I was
introduced to Arhcias. A family man of three, who is engaged with the matters of
Athens. He attends a meeting that holds a theme relating to what to do with certain
revolts called the Mytilene people. I discovered that such a meeting had blossomed
uncertainties as they had moved from one decision to another. One agreement of the
assembly, to eradicate the entire Mytilene population which led to them sending a fleet.
Another was to reverse the first choice and only take out the leaders. This video
portrayed a message of indecisiveness
The fact that the Athenians could not make a firm decision concerning their enemies
was a salient moment in the video. It is one that is shocking because in as much as they
had access to an Empire and possessed war ships, this was not reflecting in how they
were resolving issues. They seemed to be poor resolvers.
This video communicates to us as a class that in as much that a society country is
established politically ,socially or militarily with people living a good standard of life, the
decisions they make or how they are made be may not be well thought of and can lead
to poor governance.
