Theory questions
1.
a. A database is an organised collection of data stored in a way that it can be easily stored and
modified.
B. Data validation is the process of ensuring that data entered into the system respect some certain
rules and it is reasonable before it is accepted.
C. A primary key is a field in a table that contain unique value used to identify each records
D. An entity is something or someone whose information is stored in a database
E. A record is information about someone or something stored in row on a table
F. a single piece of information about something or someone stored in database
2.
1- Boolean: It indicates if something is true or false
2- Numeric: it accepts numbers
3- currency: I accepts money
3.
- Attendance ; should be lookup check since only P and A are allowed
- student's mark - range check
-normal data: 15
- ad normal data: 18
-Extreme data: 11 or 16
4- A relational database is a database with many linked tables
-one to one relationship: is where one data in one table is connected to another data in another
table
- one to many relationship: is when one record in a table is linked to many records in another table
eg: one subject can have many student.
5. flat file database is a database that has only one table while relational database has many linked
table
- in a flat file database data can often be duplicated while in relational database it doesn’t duplicate it
self since there are done in different tables and linked together

Program flowchart and algorithms
Hardware and software requirement
Input and output format
7. ease of use : it evaluates how easy it is to use it
Evaluation against the original task requirement: it simply evaluate how the agreed function
discoursed by the analyst and client have been respected to do this the compare those agreed
functions with what was produced.
8. validation routine: this is done to ensure that data entered is valid, since invalid date can cause
problems
Input format: it decides how the users will enter data into the system.
9. parallel running : it is when the new and the old system are used simultanely
advantages
If the new system goes bad the can switch back
to the oldd system
The output of both systems can be compared to
see if the new system runs correctly
Practical question
1- In table one it is Dept id
- Table 2: DeptID(FK) and empID (PK)
Table 3: : ProjectID(PK) and empID (FK)
2-deptID(pk)
-emp(FK)
3Table 1: 6 fields, 60 records
Table 2: 6 fields 72 records
Table 3: 6 fields , 72 records

disadvantages
It is expensive since both system have to be run
simultaneously and have to be kept
synchronised
Have=ing to system running together can cause
confusion with the users
