5-Step Process for Schedule Planning
1. Activity Definition: Use the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) to define and detail
the project scope.
2. Activity Sequencing: Use the Network Diagram to put project activities in the order
they need to occur.
3. Activity Resource Estimating: Develop estimates for all resources, including a
budget, materials/supplies, human resources, vendors, and contractors.
4. Activity Duration Estimation: Use the Critical Path tool to determine the amount of
time each activity will take, which informs the project duration.
5. Schedule Development: Develop the Gantt Chart based upon the outputs of the
previous 4 steps.
