Communication is about connecting with others
Effective communication requires knowledge of communication principles and techniques that
allows a person to articulate the appropriate message for a particular audience.
It requires listening, facilitating dialogue and the ability to express thoughts, feelings and ideas
clearly, concisely and in a compelling way both verbally and in writing.
● Express your thoughts, feelings, and ideas in a clear, concise, and compelling
manner both in writing and verbally.
● Apply principles of active listening, for example focusing on what someone is
saying, deferring judgment, and responding appropriately when working with
peers.
● Implement learnt communication strategies that inform and influence
audiences during presentations.
● Apply verbal, written, and/or non-verbal communication techniques in the
practice challenges and beyond.
Communication building blocks:
● People: Think about the other person perspective - Think Feel Do
● Message: the message is more than the words we speak or write, it's the
non-verbal signals we deliver or tone of voice we use. Is the message meant to
inform, persuade (bundle both primary and secondary info).
● Context: Understand the emotional temperature, considering (location, time and
relationships)
● Listening: (the skill that separates good communicators from amazing one’s)
