Summer Program Activity Proposal for MSUS May 13-30, 2025 A.Y.2025-2026 This program is open to incoming 7th Grade-10th Grade students of Bixby Knolls Preparatory Academy who wants to: 1. learn the fundamentals of SIP and IMRAD Format; and, 2. learn handling laboratory apparatuses and experimentation techniques; Name of Activity/ Topic WEEK 1 TOPIC: Scientific Inquiry Introduction to SIP IMRAD Format Motivational Activity: "The Candle and Air Mystery" SCIENCE INVESTIGATORY QUEST 5C’s Materials: 5C’s ● Critical thinking Materials and Procedures ● Notebook ● Pen ● Collaboration Procedures: I. Motivational Activity Materials: A small candle A glass or jar A shallow dish with water Matches or a lighter Activity: Workshop 1 Formulating Inquiries and Hypotheses Activity: Workshop 2 Writing Sample Investigatory Project Paper II. III. ● The students are to observe a certain phenomenon, and formulate inquiries. Discussion Activity ● Let the students formulate inquiries and hypotheses ● The students will write simple sample investigatory project paper using the IMRAD format. WEEK 2 TOPIC: Experimentation and Data 5C’s Collection ● Critical thinking ● Lab SOP ● Collaboration ● Handling Apparatuses and Chemicals Materials: ● Labcoat ● Face mask ● Lab gloves ● Lab Reports (Pre- and Post-Lab) ● Ballpen ● Investigatory Project Proposal Motivational Activity: "The Floating Paperclip Mystery" Materials: - A cup of water - A paperclip - A small piece of tissue paper Activity 1: My Apparatuses - Laboratory Measurement ● Laboratory Apparatuses (ChemLab) Procedures: I.
