Purpose: Projects (proposals) require justifications (reasons) for a person or organization to give a
commitment and funding. Justifications are developed by being able to articulate the desires and or needs by
the requestor(s).
You will use these concepts:
 In every aspect of your work and personal life, your action should be justified by a desire or need.
 IT professionals are required to justify every task performed. EFFORT and TIME is MONEY!!.
 As an individual you are a requestor when you have a desire or need AND an active participant
whenever you authorize an action or perform a task.
The focus of this exercise is to develop the verbal skills to solicit facts and data for evaluation. As you progress
in your career and life this skill is needed to evaluate situations that are unfamiliar e.g. new technology,
procedures, or concepts.
Technical skills development:
 TIME Management – DO NOT exceed the estimated time for this project. Develop skills to manage
your workload based on the time given by your supervisor.
 You may collaborate with your group members.
 Oral and written skills.

Critical Success Factors
A list of goals, features, functions that will make the project successful. This list is to evaluate a completed
project to determine if the project meets the original requirements (reason for the project).
Essay of 300 – 500 words.
Select one (1) of the following projects or situation:
1. Adding Facial Recognition Technology onto the PCCC campuses
2. Adding Robots to old existing manual labor intense Amazon warehouse.
3. Adding Robots to ShopRite stores for various jobs.
4. Adding Thermal detection recognition Technology into the Dunkin’ s manufacturing system.

The key goals / objectives you must satisfy for your selected project could be (see chp 2 for more examples):
1. Improvement to existing process and or workflows.
2. Productivity improvements.
3. Customer satisfaction.
4. Employee satisfaction.
Explain for each question, reason and information you need for your analysis, your reason and use of the
interviewee’s answer.
Example:
You are assigned to develop a project to improve the janitorial services at PCCC.
Question: Please describe the daily responsibilities of a janitor?
Reason: Determine a janitor’s daily tasks, their response to unexpended tasks to resolve unique situations.
Information: Ask the same question to all the janitors and their supervisors to determine the
correlation between management and actual performance of the staff.
*********************************************
Estimated time for this project is 45 minutes based on: the group work concept:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5 minutes for video.
10 minutes each group member generates a first draft IMMEDIATELY after viewing video.
Schedule a zoom meeting to complete the assignment.
Group disperses until the schedule a zoom meeting. USE the time until the next meeting as your
THINK time. Mentally add additional steps.
5. 30 minutes - Group zoom meeting:
a) Group members add their items into ONE list.
b) Review list for grammar/phrasing
c) Items in the proper order?? Interviews should have a logical question order. Simple to difficult questions.
d) Submit assignments as individuals. Each student should have different results.
You may complete this assignment without participating in the group work concept.

Grading Rubric
1. Write in presentation format the contents of the video. Like
taking notes. Readability at the level of EN 101.
2. Satisfy word count requirement of 300 – 500 words.
CoPilot - ChatGPT may be used help you organize the written
document NOT THE CONTENT !!!
Generate a list of open-ended questions to gather the necessary
CSF for your project (Case company and area of interest). NO
range of answer or T/F questions. Your goal is to have the
interviewee do all the speaking. YOUR silence after asking the
question is the most powerful tool to get the interviewee to speak.

Chapter 2
Purpose
The use of Facial Recognition Technology at PCCC campuses requires careful planning to ensure its
investment advances institutional priorities. Organizations must assess how modern technologies affect
security, efficiency, and user satisfaction in the evolving digital world. This analysis will determine the need for
this technology, considering its benefits and challenges.
Thorough consideration of Critical Success Factors (CSFs) will be fundamental to successfully
implementing the project. These components are essential for project success. One must gather verified data,
assess threats, and evaluate stakeholder concerns. All actions must be justified, making decision-making more
efficient as time and resources are valuable.
These requirements enhance time management, communication, analysis, and professionalism. By
pursuing these skills, they can appreciate new and unfamiliar technological inventions, a necessary asset in an
ever-changing educated world.
Critical Success Factors
To deploy Facial Recognition Technology on any PCCC campus, it is vital to outline critical success factors that
will be strategically used to monitor the initiative's success. This will help provide a clear basis for evaluating
whether the initiative meets its goals.
The essential considerations are:

Operational Effectiveness: The system should aid security checks without interfering with the normal
functioning of the campus. It ought to enable faster and more accurate identity verification while
reducing reliance on traditional methods.

Acceptance by Users: Students, faculty, and staff must be willing to use the technology effectively.
Privacy and accuracy concerns should be addressed through proper communication and training
programs.

Improved Security: The system should result in an improved level of security on campus, limiting
unauthorized entry and making the environment safer.


Legal and Ethical Policies: The implementation should consider existing laws, policies, and ethical
issues, including positioning governance regarding data privacy. Policies regarding consent, data
management, storage, and access control should be formulated.

Value for Money: The expenditure on installing, maintaining, and updating the system should be
offset by measurable favorable outcomes such as lower security costs.

Interview Questions for CSF Analysis
Structured interviews must be conducted to gather relevant data. Open-ended questions ensure
comprehensive insights. Below is a structured list of questions for stakeholders regarding the implementation
of Facial Recognition Technology at PCCC:
1. Security and Justification

Question: What current security challenges on campus could be addressed by Facial Recognition
Technology?

Reason: Identifies gaps in the existing security framework.

Information Needed: Understanding security risks and how this technology will mitigate them.
2. System Feasibility and Adoption

Question: What measures will be taken to ensure accurate and unbiased facial recognition results?

Reason: Prevents ethical and operational issues regarding AI bias and accuracy.

Information Needed: AI training data, accuracy benchmarks, and regulatory compliance.
3. Stakeholder Impact and Concerns

Question: How will students, faculty, and staff be informed about and trained on the new system?

Reason: Ensures smooth adoption and reduces resistance to change.

Information Needed: Training programs, communication strategies, and policy guidelines.

4. Financial and Strategic Viability

Question: What are the university's expected costs and return on investment?

Reason: Determines whether the project aligns with budgetary constraints and long-term value.

Information Needed: Cost analysis, funding sources, and projected financial benefits.
5. Ethical and Legal Considerations

Question: How does the system comply with data privacy laws and ethical standards?

Reason: Ensures adherence to regulations such as GDPR and FERPA.

Information Needed: Compliance reports, legal assessments, and privacy safeguards.
Conclusion
Developing Critical Success Factors is an iterative and dynamic process. Continually revisiting and refining
CSFs allows the project to adapt to new challenges and aligns with institutional goals. The structured
interview ensures comprehensive data collection, leading to an informed decision-making process.
This strategic approach guarantees that Facial Recognition Technology implementation at PCCC is viable,
