Complete the daily checklist before using the FLT at the start of the shift. Report any defects to your Supervisor. 2. Never carry passengers or lift anyone on the forks of the truck. 3. Never lift a load that is not properly stacked or looks unsafe. 4. Ensure that loads are secure, evenly spread on the forks and balanced. 5. Drive with forks lowered to within six inches of level ground and mast tilted backwards. 6. Drive in reverse when a high load restricts forward vision. 7. When loaded, travel downhill with forks facing uphill and when unloaded, travel downhill with forks facing downhill. 8. Never turn on an incline except by very small amounts. 9. Never stack or de-stack on an incline. 10. Always lower loads as soon as they are clear of the stack. 11. Never pick up a load if somebody is standing close to it. 12. Never allow anyone to walk underneath a load. 13. Drive slowly in the presence of pedestrians. 14. Avoid sudden braking and jerky manoeuvres. 15. Stop before passing through doorways and sound the horn. 16. Sound the horn at every point of hazard. 17. Never run over cables or flexible pipes on the ground. 18. Always look in the direction of travel and be aware of overhead obstructions. 19. Always leave a FLT with forks lowered, gear set to neutral and parking brake engaged. 20. Never leave a FLT on an incline or obstructing gangways. 21. Remove the keys when leaving the FLT unattended 22. Always wear your seatbelt when driving a counterbalance truck. 23. Always wear safety boots. 24. Always wear the seatbelt.
