Standing Plan
Single Use Plan
A standing plan is a
plan that is intended
to be used many
times. It is designed
to guide managerial
decisions and
actions that tend to
be recurring.
It is used over a long
period, sometimes
indefinitely, and is
altered as
circumstances
These plans are
created for
events/activities with
a single occurrence.
This can be a onetime sales program,
a marketing
campaign, a
recruitment drive,
etc. Single use plans
tend to be highly
specific.

FOCUS
Strategic planning are designed
with the entire organization in mind
and begin with an organization's
mission.
Typically 3-5 years or up to 10 years
serves as a framework for lowerlevel planning
Support strategic planning
by translating them into
specific plans relevant to a
distinct area of the
organization
the scope is 1 - 2 years
and breaks down the
strategic plan into
actionable chunks
Operational planning is the process of
planning strategic goals and objectives to specific
procedures and processes that occur within the
lowest levels of the organization. Operational
plans are often described as single use plans or
ongoing plans that are usually focused on the
next 12 months or less. Therefore, a fiveyear strategic plan would typically require five
operational plans funded by five operating
budgets
