In year 2000, the average global oil price was
close to $25 per barrel, and the food price
index stood at just under 90 points. From 2000
to 2004 both prices remained relatively stable,
before rising steadily between 2004 and 2007.
In that same year, the average oil price had
more than doubled, to nearly $60 per barrel,
and food prices had risen by around 50 points.
Line graph
Trends for both commodities were similar.
PITCH DECK V 1.0
A dramatic increase in both commodity prices
was seen from 2007 to 2008, with oil prices
rising to a peak of approximately $130 per
barrel and the food price index reaches to 220
points. By the beginning of 2009 the price of
oil had however, dropped by roughly $90, and
the food price index plummeted by about 80
points. Lastly, in 2011, the average oil price
rose once again, to nearly $100 per barrel,
while the food price index reached its peak, at
almost 240 points.

PITCH DECK V 1.0
In 1995, people in the UK used fixed lines for a
total of approximately 70 billion minutes for
local calls, and about half of that amount of
time for national or international calls. On the
contrary, mobile phones were only used for
around 4 billion minutes. Over the following
four years, the figures for all three types of
phone call increased steadily.
Bar chart
The lowest - mobile calls, also saw the most
dramatic increase
PITCH DECK V 1.0
Coming to the year 1999, the amount of time
spent on local calls using landlines had
reached a peak at 90 billion minutes.
Afterwards, the figure for this category fell,
but the rise in the other two types of phone
call were still on the rise. In 2002, the number
of minutes of national and international
landline calls passed 60 billion, while the
figure for mobiles rose to around 45 billion
minutes.

2010.
PITCH DECK V 1.0
Looking at the positive responses, in 2005
merely 5% of the hotel’s visitors rated its
customer service as excellent. This figure
however, rose to 28% in 2010. Furthermore,
while only 14% of guests described customer
service in the hotel as good in 2005, almost
three times as many people gave this rating
five years later.
Pie chart
Most hotel guests rated satisfactory or poor in
2005, majority - good or excellent in 2010.
PITCH DECK V 1.0
Looking over to the negative reviews, guests
who considered the hotel’s customer service
to be poor fell from 21% in 2005 to only 12%
in 2010. Similarly, the proportion of people
who thought customer service was very poor
dropped from 15% to only 4% over the 5-year
period. Finally, a fall in the number of
‘satisfactory’ ratings in 2010 reflects the fact
that more people gave positive responses to
the survey in that year.

Table
Largest - food, drinks and tobacco.
PITCH DECK V 1.0
Out of the five countries, consumer spending
on food, drinks and tobacco was noticeably
higher in Turkey, at 32.14%, and Ireland, at
nearly 29%. The proportion of spending on
leisure and education was also highest in
Turkey, at 4.35%, while expenditure on
clothing and footwear was significantly higher
in Italy, at 9%, than in any of the other
countries.
Table
Leisure/education - lowest
PITCH DECK V 1.0
It can be seen that Sweden had the lowest
percentages of national consumer expenditure
for food/drinks/tobacco and for
clothing/footwear, at nearly 16% and just over
5% respectively. Spain had slightly higher
figures for these categories, but the lowest
figure for leisure/education, at only 1.98%.

Looking more closely at the bar chart, 49% of
the trips made by Americans in 2009 were for
the purpose of commuting. By contrast, only
6% of trips were visits to friends or relatives,

reason for 16% of all travel, while unspecific
‘personal reasons’ accounted for the
remaining 19%.

PITCH DECK V 1.0
With regards to the pie chart, price was the
key consideration for 36% of American
travellers. Almost one in five people cited
safety as their foremost travel concern, while
aggressive driving and highway congestion
were the main issues for 17% and 14% of the
travelling public. Finally, a total of 14% of
those surveyed thought that access to public
transport or space for pedestrians were the
most important travel issues.

Construction of a ring road around the centre.
PITCH DECK V 1.0
Looking at the map of Islip as it is now, we can
see that a main road runs through its centre
from east to west. The second map shows the
planned pedestrianisation of this road. Traffic
will be diverted on to a dual carriageway that
will form a ring around the town centre.
Map
Various developments -shops and housing
PITCH DECK V 1.0
Currently there is a row of shops along either
side of the main road. However, it appears
that the shops along the north side of the new
pedestrian street will be demolished to make
way for a bus station, shopping centre, car
park and new housing area. The shops along
the south side of the street will remain, but it
seems that the town’s park will be reduced in
size so that more new houses can be built
within the ring road.

PITCH DECK V 1.0
At the first stage in the production of cement,
limestone and clay are crushed to form a
powder. This powder is then mixed before it
passes into a rotating heater. After heating,
the resulting mixture is ground, and cement is
produced. Finally, the cement is packaged in
large bags.
Process
Four different materials are mixed together concrete.
PITCH DECK V 1.0
Cement is one of the four raw materials that
are used in the production of concrete, along
with gravel, sand and water. To be exact,
concrete consists of 50% gravel, 25% sand,
15% cement and 10% water. All four
materials are blended together in a rotating
machine called a concrete mixer.

Habits are best developed during early ages.
Firstly, regular physical activity is the number one solution to solving weight related problems. This
habit of constantly being on foot is best developed at an early age as sports and aerobatic exercises
are most enjoyed from the age of 7 to 15. Statistics have shown that during this time, 65% of active
habits encountered would continue to be a part of an adult's lifestyle. Hence, individuals who had
developed a passion for sports of any kind during earlier school years would be extremely more
likely to stay active when they reach adulthood, preventing obesity and similar health issues.

encouraging an active form of living at schools, a healthier culture can be set in the youths' mind. This can

Many offenders commit more crimes after serving the first punishment. Why is this happening, and what
measures can be taken to tackle this problem?
A large number of criminals who serve their first prison sentence, leave prison only to reoffend. This
is mainly because of the lack of rehabilitation and difficulty finding regular employment once
released. There are a number of solutions which should be implemented to deal with criminals who
reoffend.

More prone to commit crime.
Firstly, the reason for most first time offenders committing crimes again, once they have been released from
prison, is due to the lack of rehabilitation whilst in prison. In other words, offenders are not given a chance
to retrain and learn new skills for their future or develop a deeper understanding of correct moral behaviour
and instead mix with other criminals, which only strengthens their criminal intentions . Secondly, repeat
offending is also owing to the difficulty in finding employment after being released. As a result, many of
them struggle financially which leads them back to crime, regardless of the consequences.

BODY 2
There are two effective solutions to the problem of repeat offenders. One way to tackle this is to
ensure that all criminals entering prison are given the chance to retrain with useful skills which will
hopefully ensure them a job after they have served their sentence. By doing this, it will help them
reintegrate back into society and give them some means of supporting themselves financially. Another
method of dealing with criminals who reoffend is to have more supervision and checks in place when
they are back in society. This solution would hopefully prevent them from taking any chances and
deter them from reoffending because they are being so closely watched.

In conclusion, having training in prison and also close observation when first time offenders are released
are effective in dealing with the issue. If governments implemented these solutions, crime figures would
soon drop.
