Why WWI Should Be Taught: An Essay

advertisement
Oftentimes WWI is not as heavily covered as many other events are in 20th century history. In a short
essay make an argument on why WWI should be taught in every history classroom. Use examples
from the films that we viewed to support the argument. [Flyboys, All Quiet on the Western
Front,(Mackenzie's Film) The Great War, and 1917]
As of today there are no remaining veterans that fought in WWI.
Learning about WWI in school is important because it was the beginning of our modernization of our
weapons, society, and also the traumatic experiences those who fought went through. WWI should
be taught in schools.
Why should WWI be taught? This is a very important question, but one answer is without
learning about WWI young children of today would not know the history of what brought us to today.
Films like 1917 and All Quiet on the Western Front show the horrible, and terrifying experiences of
trench warfare. Films like the great war show PTSD from the fighting, and the struggles of soldiers
who still fought.
