I agree and disagree with the idea of passion first careers. Most people do choose a career by what they are passionate about. It just seems like the logical thing to do. When you’re thinking of a job, your first job is “I’m passionate about this so I’m going to look into it as a career.” I don’t think anyone’s first thought is ever to pick something without passion. Nobody picks a job of nowhere. And that’s what I’m doing, looking at careers and education programs that go with my passions. Start with something I’m actually interested in. I agree with this article that if you are in a job and spend enough time doing something, you will start to like it because you feel good about your success, and it becomes something you are passionate about. There are good and bad points to a passion first model of choosing a career.
