CANTERBURY CHRIST CHURCH UNIVERSITY - LEARNING SUPPORT PLAN Name Student ID xxxxxxxxxxx Programme of study Disability Mental Health LSP date [X] can find social situations difficult. [X] may require extra PAT support and should arrange regular contact. [X] recognises a challenge for him is staying organised, but with appropriate support is well capable of undertaking undergraduate study. Agreed Reasonable Adjustments In line with the Equality Act (2010), we are legally required to make reasonable adjustments for any student disclosing a disability. Reasonable Adjustment Flexibility on deadlines. Action for staff and student Staff to consider requests for extended deadlines as a reasonable adjustment rather than asking the student to use the Extenuating Circumstances process. It is [X]’s responsibility to initiate contact with academics to request an extension and agree a timetable of submission dates that is acceptable to all involved. N.B. Extensions required after Exam Board dates need to go through Extenuating Circumstances. Presentations [X] to be allowed to present to smaller groups, with the ongoing aim of presenting to the group as a whole. Consider options for adjustments to any activities involving ‘public speaking’. [X] should be allowed to present just to tutor. If giving a peer review presentation, [X] may prefer to record the presentation then, with permission, play for the class to allow constructive feedback. Attendance Absences from lectures or lateness that occur as a result of [X]’s condition should be treated sympathetically but will need to be managed within the programme rules regarding Page 1|3 attendance. Staff should endeavour to enable [X], upon his/her return, to catch up on any information or studies missed as a result of enforced absence. It is [X]’s responsibility to contact academics to keep them informed about any absence. Examination adjustments [X] will require 25% extra time in exams and the use of a smaller shared room. Inclusive Practice Areas of Need Actions for Staff Electronic Resources Access to teaching materials, including powerpoints, should be provided before the lecture/seminar date via Blackboard (best practice would be at least 48 hours in advance). Where possible, information and materials are to be available in an electronic format. Recording The University promotes an ‘inclusive curriculum’ approach, which aims to make learning resources available to all students. Recap (Digital Learning Capture) is an important tool that enables content to be audio or video-recorded. Students can then access recordings online to consolidate and expand their learning. Personal Recordings It is recognised that tutorials and seminars, one to one meetings are not captured by Recap therefore you may like to record these conversations. Please make tutors aware and recording is for personal learning use only. Reading Lists The student must receive early access to prioritised reading lists. Library Library loans (except for 24-hour loan items) will be renewed automatically. Items only need to be returned if someone else reserves them. The library has a number of other ways to support you. You can contact your subject librarian for more information on finding resources and referencing material.
